An Astonishing Community – Community Building 101 with Jennifer Fitta

Share

With a passion for community building, Jennifer Fitta is Astonish Results’ very own social media specialist. Since joining the Astonish family, Jenn has successfully influenced how our company and clients connect through social media. Growing up in Fall River, Massachusetts, Jenn received her degree from Bryant University in 2008. Jenn was able to experience the power of social media while working for Harvard Medical School, where she focused on community building and special events. With the unique ability to build active, engaged social communities, Jenn has now brought her social strength and creativity to Astonish Results.

As a member of the Internet Marketing Team, Jenn has had the opportunity to be a part of not only our company’s community but the communities of more than 40 clients. Jenn has already begun to change and shape the way Astonish clients interact with their current customers and prospects.  Jenn has revamped the initial call structure, implementing a question and answer session which provides her with the ability to better understand each Astonish client’s brand image; ultimately helping her tailor the set-up of each agency’s social media accounts.

“I find what I do FUN! I’m psyched about my position and what I can do every day to impact the company for the better. I love my clients and knowing that what I do helps them grow and become more interactive with their sites.”- Jenn

So what is community building? According to Jenn, community building means taking one’s social media efforts to the next level. Community building is more than just a simply posting something to your Facebook Page; community building is interacting with your Facebook fans through many types of social interactions. This may include going to a client’s page and commenting on the photo they posted, then after they respond to your comment, actually taking the time to write back; continuing the conversation. Community building can also entail holding a Facebook contest to get your agency’s Facebook friends involved in the betterment of your local community.

Forming a strong community through Internet marketing tactics is social media at its highest level.  Think of your social media strategy as cultivating an online community, right behind your own computer. Social media brings people together and creates a society full of access and opportunity.  Community building is also a great social media tactic to become familiar with because it provides a business with the opportunity to interact with people or other businesses that you otherwise may not have been able to do.

One of the best client examples Jenn has witnessed, since joining Astonish, comes from Illinois’ Equity Insurance. Since becoming a member of the Astonish family, agency owner, Chuck Rowland has proactively followed Jenn’s advice; taking control over his social community. With Jenn’s coaching and best practices, Chuck has jumped right in; actively posting and communicating with the agency’s fans and followers.

Jenn takes her job to the next level, by actively getting to know all of her Astonish clients. She takes the time to understand their agency culture, research their surrounding community, local media resources and even their competition. Not only does she build a community for her clients, but she also builds a social community for herself. She enjoys knowing that at the end of the day she positively impacted someone’s social media strategy; and better yet their overall insurance marketing strategy.   Astonish’s RFM’s (Raving Fan Managers) have also helped Jenn to build a relationship with each client, by having her participate in client meetings and conference calls – whatever it takes for her to better understand each agency’s unique culture!. Community building is an important social media tactic for all of us to utilize and Jenn really knows how to stay PSYCHED about it!
