Astonish is Publically Recognized for its Charitable Contributions

Share

Last December Astonish raised over $28,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island and now local publications are taking notice! Providence Business News recently published an article highlighting the company’s contribution to the charity. Astonish is honored to be included in such a prestigious local publication and to be a growing, integral part of the Rhode Island business community. The Astonish family is so proud of this accomplishment and the dedication of their employees to this well-deserved local organization.Make a Wish Astonish Presentation

Astonish was committed to raising an impressive sum of money for the Rhode Island Make-A-Wish Foundation and was thrilled to achieve such a lofty total. The attention of local publications is just the icing on the cake! Providence Business News delivers informative stories to over 35,300 local businesses every week and recognizes Astonish for its charitable work in the forefront of the local business community. The article also brings light to the amazing local Make-A-Wish foundation and what the organization achieves. Astonish hopes this story inspires other local businesses to get involved with charitable efforts and fundraising for this remarkable foundation.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island was founded in 1987 and grants the wishes of local children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. With the help of generous business contributors like Astonish, the Foundation has served over 4,500 children in Massachusetts and 1,000 in Rhode Island.

Astonish CEO and Founder, Adam DeGraide, formulated the efforts of the fundraising campaign during the month of December. The company accumulated portions of sales proceeds and pledged $1 for every new Facebook ‘Like’ throughout the month. The Astonish executive team also generously matched the funds contributed, calculating a grand total of $28,950.

The average cost to grant a child’s wish is around $6,500, so the money contributed by Astonish will grant at least four wishes for local children. “The decision to partner with The Make-A-Wish Foundation was a simple one. Not only do we have an opportunity to give back to the local community, but we are directly supporting the most important aspect of our future—the children,” stated DeGraide. Astonish looks forward to its growing partnership with the local Make-A-Wish Foundation and to future involvement in the Rhode Island community.

Astonish Welcomes New CFO Eric Johnson

Share

Astonish Results is pleased to introduce Eric Johnson, the latest member of our executive team. Eric has taken on the critically important role of Chief Financial Officer for Astonish, and will be ensuring that our finances will be managed properly and used effectively to serve our clients and help our company grow.Astonish Results CFO

Eric has an impressive education, with an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. That makes Eric the second chemist among our executives, along with John Boudreau, our COO. We are bound to benefit greatly from the addition of another analytical mind at the helm.

Prior to joining Astonish, Eric worked for Intel in Arizona within various finance roles for 10 years. He also co-founded a solar cell manufacturing business, SpectraWatt, Inc., which he and others spun out of Intel with the help of multiple investors. Eric served as the VP of Finance at SpectraWatt for three years prior to taking on his new role at Astonish.

Eric was one of the first four employees at SpectraWatt, and says that he was able to meet every new employee one at a time, as they joined. In larger companies like Astonish, he says it’s always a challenge to remember names and faces all at once when joining, but he’s enthused. Eric was introduced to us for the first time during our annual, company-wide Astonish Results family meeting this past week, which he said was “definitely a bonus!” His favorite part of Astonish so far is “definitely the employees—all the people who work here. I love their enthusiasm.”

Outside of work, Eric enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and fishing. He’s also excited about Super Bowl 46 this year. Who is he rooting for? “Without question, the New York Giants,” Eric says. “I’ve been a Giants fan my whole life having grown up in New England, so this year looks to be a fun one.”

He even has a bet with a buddy over the game. If the Giants lose, Eric says, “I’ll have to place a Pats bumper sticker on my car for a year. But I’m really thinking my buddy is going to get lots of compliments on his brand new Giants sticker. I’m totally looking forward to that.” We’ll be looking forward to how his bet turns out, as well!

Thanks, Eric, for taking on the monumental role of CFO in our company. We’re grateful for the knowledge and experience you are bringing to the table to help our company succeed this year and in the years ahead.

Charity Recap: Astonishing Results for our “Make-A-Wish December” Initiative

Share

This month we celebrate another Astonish Results success. Throughout the month of December Astonish has been united in raising awareness and funds for The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

With 2012 upon us, we are PSYCHED to announce that outcome of our “Make-A-Wish December” campaign, and share that we have successfully raised $28,950 for the local nonprofit!

On behalf of the entire Astonish Results team, we would like to thank each and every person involved in helping us succeed in our mission. And a special thank you to Astonish Results CEO and Founder, Adam DeGraide, who took the company’s initiative one step further by increasing community interaction. In addition to the funds raised through sales and the Executive Team’s personal donations, DeGraide donated an additional dollar for every Facebook “like” he garnered on his Facebook Fan Page. Overall, the campaign was met with incredible success and allowed the Astonish family to rally behind a cause so many of us are passionate about.

It takes about $4,000 to make each child’s wish come true. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island has already served over 5,000 children in previous years and with our donation we hope to add some cheer and joy to the lives of many children this New Year.

Once again we are incredibly grateful that we are able to provide this contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and thank each and every person that helped make this possible.

Furthermore, from the Astonish Results team, we wish you all a happy and healthy New Year! We hope that our donation allows many children to start off the New Year off with a smile on their face, as their wishes come true!

An Astonishing Community – Community Building 101 with Jennifer Fitta

Share

With a passion for community building, Jennifer Fitta is Astonish Results’ very own social media specialist. Since joining the Astonish family, Jenn has successfully influenced how our company and clients connect through social media. Growing up in Fall River, Massachusetts, Jenn received her degree from Bryant University in 2008. Jenn was able to experience the power of social media while working for Harvard Medical School, where she focused on community building and special events. With the unique ability to build active, engaged social communities, Jenn has now brought her social strength and creativity to Astonish Results.

As a member of the Internet Marketing Team, Jenn has had the opportunity to be a part of not only our company’s community but the communities of more than 40 clients. Jenn has already begun to change and shape the way Astonish clients interact with their current customers and prospects.  Jenn has revamped the initial call structure, implementing a question and answer session which provides her with the ability to better understand each Astonish client’s brand image; ultimately helping her tailor the set-up of each agency’s social media accounts.

“I find what I do FUN! I’m psyched about my position and what I can do every day to impact the company for the better. I love my clients and knowing that what I do helps them grow and become more interactive with their sites.”- Jenn

So what is community building? According to Jenn, community building means taking one’s social media efforts to the next level. Community building is more than just a simply posting something to your Facebook Page; community building is interacting with your Facebook fans through many types of social interactions. This may include going to a client’s page and commenting on the photo they posted, then after they respond to your comment, actually taking the time to write back; continuing the conversation. Community building can also entail holding a Facebook contest to get your agency’s Facebook friends involved in the betterment of your local community.

Forming a strong community through Internet marketing tactics is social media at its highest level.  Think of your social media strategy as cultivating an online community, right behind your own computer. Social media brings people together and creates a society full of access and opportunity.  Community building is also a great social media tactic to become familiar with because it provides a business with the opportunity to interact with people or other businesses that you otherwise may not have been able to do.

One of the best client examples Jenn has witnessed, since joining Astonish, comes from Illinois’ Equity Insurance. Since becoming a member of the Astonish family, agency owner, Chuck Rowland has proactively followed Jenn’s advice; taking control over his social community. With Jenn’s coaching and best practices, Chuck has jumped right in; actively posting and communicating with the agency’s fans and followers.

Jenn takes her job to the next level, by actively getting to know all of her Astonish clients. She takes the time to understand their agency culture, research their surrounding community, local media resources and even their competition. Not only does she build a community for her clients, but she also builds a social community for herself. She enjoys knowing that at the end of the day she positively impacted someone’s social media strategy; and better yet their overall insurance marketing strategy.   Astonish’s RFM’s (Raving Fan Managers) have also helped Jenn to build a relationship with each client, by having her participate in client meetings and conference calls – whatever it takes for her to better understand each agency’s unique culture!. Community building is an important social media tactic for all of us to utilize and Jenn really knows how to stay PSYCHED about it!

Astonish Results Welcomes Mary Mack to the Astonish Team

Share

Everyone say hello to our newest employee, Mary Mack! Mary is taking on the role of SEO Specialist at Astonish Results and will be concentrating most of her efforts on link building.

“Link building is such a key part of SEO and Public Relations, and it’s so impressive that Astonish has recognized that and created this position. I’m really looking forward to helping our clients build their online presence!”

Mary is a native of Newport, Rhode Island and lives there with her husband, Andy and their pug/basset hound mix, Kenny Powers. A special congrats goes out to our new astonishing team member as she just got married on 11/11/11!

Mary recently earned her Master’s degree in Internet Marketing from Full Sail University’s online program. At graduation, she received the honor of class Salutatorian and a course director award for Advanced Search Engine Optimization. She also has a B.A., in Communications and Media Arts with a concentration in TV/Video from Emerson College in Boston, MA.

While at Emerson, she did her internship at the CBS soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” and moved to Los Angeles after graduation to work as a writer for a comedy website. She’s still funny (or at least her mom thinks so), but she’s found her “happy place” focusing on SEO and Internet Marketing and most importantly helping to strengthen our clients’ insurance marketing strategies.

A Britney Spears supporter since 1998, Mary was even voted “Most Likely to Go on Tour with Britney Spears” in high school. She also loves Top 40 music and knows that she has secured her status as an “adult teeny bopper.”

Mary has always been obsessed with the Internet, so she’s thrilled to be the newest addition to the Astonish Results family! Very few people can say they get paid to do what they love and Mary knows she’s lucky to be one of them!

Behind the Scenes in the Internet Marketing Department- Meet and Greet with Sara Day and Rachel Weiss

Share

The Internet Marketing department at Astonish has been growing, and there are two very important people we wanted to highlight. Meet Content and Social Media Specialists, Sara Day and Rachel Weiss. The two specialists have been working hard on the content and social media for our clients for the past few months, and absolutely love it!

“From the application process on, I just loved the culture of the company. I already feel like I’ve been here forever!”- Sara Day

Sara originally grew up in Lewisburg, PA, and then went on to college in Boston where she earned her degree from Emerson College. Sara loves the show Dexter, eating peanut butter and fluff sandwiches, and watching trashy reality television!

The Internet Marketing department is more of a team at Astonish; everyone is always sharing ideas and encouraging conversation to get the writing juices flowing! Sara has been more focused on content writing since her arrival at Astonish, but will soon be moving into more of a social media role. She is excited for more responsibility and the new tasks that lie ahead of her!

Rachel Weiss has been working hard with the Internet Marketing team here at Astonish. Just like Sara, Rachel focuses on content for our clients. Rachel is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating from Northeastern University she held a range of different positions, before landing at, Astonish Results.

“I was so happy when I came across this position. Everyone has a positive attitude and loves what they do. It’s a team and a family. I love it!”- Rachel Weiss

When she isn’t blogging away, Rachel loves to spend time with her dog, cook and bake homemade treats! Rachel is always bringing in delicious snacks for the whole Astonish team including gluten free brownies, and frosted cupcakes!

These two astonishing team members are just a glimpse of the talent we have working here at Astonish! More updates about our team members and the Astonish Results community will be sure to come every day.

Employee of the Month: David Osowa

Share

Congratulations to Astonish Results’ David Osowa, who was recently named Employee of the Month!

David originally grew up in East Greenwich, RI, but has lived in many different places over the last few years including Hartford, CT, Park City, UT, and Boston, MA. David received his MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, MA in 2007 and spent his undergraduate career at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, majoring in political science.

Last April, David jumped on board with Astonish as the Director of Search Engine Marketing (SEM). Since beginning his career at Astonish, he has been responsible for running the daily activities of the SEM team and has taken on the responsibility of building, monitoring, and optimizing SEM campaigns for all of Astonish’s new clients.  Additionally, he is in charge of premium PPC (Pay-per-click) campaigns for clients who have completed their initial budget spend. Ultimately, David is responsible for managing nearly 100 SEM campaigns!

Employee of the Month David Osowa along with Astonish Executives John Boudreau, Tim Sawyer, and Adam DeGraide!

“I wanted to take my experience running PPC campaigns for a large digital marketing agency in Boston and apply it to a smaller company with a start-up attitude”, David Osowa says. “I liked the flexibility to build and manage a department according to how I feel an SEM department should be run, and I love the fact that I can bring new ideas to the company and implement them as I see fit.“

David is also Astonish’s Vice President of Useless YouTube Video Distribution for the Internet Marketing team on Friday’s.

Before joining the Astonish team, David worked as a Client Services Manager at iProspect in Boston, MA. There, he was responsible for overseeing client strategies for both organic (SEO) and paid (SEM) search marketing.

Outside of his role as Director of SEM, David loves to spend time traveling with his wife Sarah and his friends. Whenever David has a free moment, you can most likely find him enjoying the outdoors. A lot of his trips revolve around skiing, which is a huge passion of his. He spends a lot of his time taking his Portuguese Water Dog, Lucy, to the beach in Nantucket during the summer.  David also describes himself as an unabashed, frequently irrational Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins fan.

Since David has come from an agency that has dealt with larger clients, he has found his role at Astonish to be most gratifying.

“Coming from an agency that dealt with larger clients (and similarly large marketing budgets), I like having the ability to positively impact the smaller, family owned agencies that we work with,” David said. “I also have really enjoyed the relationships that I’ve been able to develop in my short time here at Astonish.  Positive attitudes are contagious!”

Astonish Results Emerging As One of Fastest-Growing Private Companies

Share

Earlier this week, Providence Business News released its list of the Fastest-Growing Private Companies in Rhode Island and Top 100 Companies.

Thomas Rotella, Production Manager at Astonish Results!

Despite slumping economic times, many organizations focused in technology, engineering, and design were at the forefront of the rankings.

Astonish Results placed high on the “Fastest Growing Private Companies” list in 2011. All of the 18 companies shown on the list were ranked by their revenue-growth percentage. Astonish was the only Digital Marketing organization that made the list.

The truth is that the world and our economy are changing. Traditional marketing strategies and tactics are losing effectiveness every single day. Once insurance agencies understand this fact and are aware of the importance of incorporating an effective Digital Marketing strategy, this should dramatically boost their sales production. Discovering ways to serve the modern consumer is among the insurance industry’s greatest challenges in 2011 and beyond.

As the insurance industry has undergone rapid change, Astonish Results has leveraged Digital Insurance Marketing strategies and discovered solutions which have helped insurance agencies double their size! Since 2008, Astonish has been the top leader in digital insurance marketing in the world.

In the midst of our recovering economy, many small businesses have fallen one by one because they have not adapted its marketing principles. As past history has shown, the most difficult economic times has allowed for fresh, new opportunities for businesses. This is especially true for the insurance industry!

Greg Brailsford, SEM Analyst at Astonish Results!

Once more insurance agencies begin to generate more customers and make more money, this should have an astonishing impact on the economy and refuel it as a whole!

Insurance agencies need to understand that they need to rethink their ways of approaching and reaching the modern consumer. In today’s world, a comprehensive Digital Marketing strategy is vital to your agency’s success. Astonish Results is proud to be a part of this list among many other innovative companies and plans to continue growing year after year.
